Job Description Summary
The Clinical Systems Educator is responsible for development of curriculum and education materials, providing training, and supporting users of clinical systems, primarily Epic and Cerner.
Primary Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and deliver effective application training courses for a diverse multidisciplinary faculty, clinicians, and support staff.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of the application and of clinical workflows.
• Provide support to end users through classroom and individualized training, consultation services, and answering questions.
• Effectively deliver user support and training in person, in writing, via e-mail and telephone.
• Design training curricula and materials to support system use.
• Coordinate with different teams to define project requirements, plan and implement application changes, and support users through system updates.
Qualifications required for this job:
• Working knowledge of healthcare operations and clinical processes
• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles
• Ability to evaluate user proficiency via direct observation
• Ability to develop, maintain, and report on timelines for projects
• Demonstrated experience in training clinical end-users of various levels of technical savvy
• Demonstrated experience working with teams in the development and support of applications, and in implementing production systems in a healthcare organization
• Ability to evaluate user proficiency in application via direct observation
• Ability to work exceptionally well independently and as part of a team
• Excellent ability to communicate expectations clearly and succinctly, both in e-mail and orally.
• Good follow-up skills
• Ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
Qualifications preferred for this job:
• Strong understanding of computer terminology and database design basics
• Experience using learning management systems including course scheduling, tracking, and program management software
• Lean processes or CPI knowledge and exposure
• Strong understanding of software usability criteria and design
• Knowledge oncology patient care services
• Knowledge of patient care operations in out-patient or acute care and/or research setting.
• Knowledge of TJC, DOH, and other regulatory requirements
